How we handle legal requests for user data

Our approach

We respond to valid legal process and aim for the narrowest disclosure consistent with the request.

What we require

We require valid legal process — a subpoena, court order, or search warrant — before disclosing user data. Emergency requests may be considered for imminent danger to life.

What data we may disclose

Account holder information, donation records, IP addresses, access logs, and audit trails. Card data is held by Stripe — contact Stripe directly for payment records.

User notification

Unless legally prohibited, we notify affected users before disclosing their data to law enforcement.

Submitting requests

Send requests to legal@donateth.is with the requesting agency, description of information sought, and a copy of the legal process.
